Hi ! My name is Jean, I'm a fourth year student at the Ecole Polytechnique near Paris, France. Currently majoring in computer science, I'm thorouglhy interested in startups, and have up to know worked on several school and side projects related to entrepreneurship. I'm currently looking for a 5 to 6 month internship, starting in July 2014.
Here, you'll find a short description of the projects i've been working on recently, as well as my skills and past work experiences.
Stupeflix is a 4 year old French startup that wants it easy to create gorgeous video. We offer a web service, and API and a iPhone app that will allow anyone to create masterpiece in just a few clicks / calls / gestures. Replay, the iPhone app has been in the work for many month and is coming out Christmas 2013.
As an intern, I developped and integrated in Replay a video stabilization algorithm that works real-time at playback. To achieve this speed, we use informations from the gyroscope to stabilize the video. You can see a demonstration of this algorithm above. I am now working part time at Stupeflix, creating computer-visions tools in order to answer questions such as Where are the important point of this image ? or What color would work well with this video ?
SmartRent is a Startup-weekend project. With a team of 8 (5 business / 3 dev), we developped and pitched a buisness idea : renting furniture to students in Paris. In 54 hours, we created a full business plan, did customer validation and developped the website. We ultimately were awarded first prize in the Startup-Weekend competition. Unfortunately, I could not carry on with the project due to various reasons.
As a developper, I worked on the website. We quickly settled on a simple Django Backend, which we deployed in a few hours using Heroku. We spent the first day setting up the structure and the database and implementing the first unstyled view. During the second day, I focused on the front-end experience while the rest team fixed the remaining issues on the backend and worked on the checkout experience.
RateMyClass is an internal school website a friend and I developed last year. It provides coherent information on classes at the Ecole Polytechnique based on a wide response from student opinion. The website gathered hundreds of comments in the first few days, and we are currently looking for ways to monetize and expand this service.
CodeBar is a service that will allow users to place orders in busy bars using their phone. We’re a team of four people wanting to get a first hands-on experience with entrepreneurship. I started working on the web application a few months ago, and we’re currently looking for a bar willing to test our service and partner with us.
As a 3-personn team, we created this procedural world using Cinder, GLSL on top of OpenGL. It features real-time shading, clever texturing dependant on slope and height and dynamic lighning of water to recreate waves using normal maps.
We implemented algorithm for Conway's Game of Life using Sequential Java, Java Threading, Java RMI and CUDA in order to compare parallel and sequential programming performances on thi textbook parallel problem.
With a team of 6, we created a pragmatic device that would recognize the content of one’s tray in the school cafeteria
We implemented the algorithm described in Fast and Exact Computation of Geodesic Distance on Triangular Meshes
I worked on a simple reconstruction of stereographic 3D using GraphCut algorithms as part of a school project.
